We are a vintage camera and lens shop based in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

Every item we sell is sourced directly from Japan — from professional auction houses, estate collections, and long-time photographers who took meticulous care of their gear. Japan's culture of maintaining things in excellent condition means the equipment we find here is often remarkably well-preserved.

Why We Do This

When I was young, I borrowed my father's Nikkormat and started taking pictures with it. I didn't think much about it at the time. Years later I understood what I had been holding: not just a camera, but the daily life of an era, and the effort and ingenuity of the people who built it — engineers and craftsmen who solved problems by hand, with the tools they had.

That work didn't disappear. It is still sitting in drawers and closets and camera bags all over this country, quiet and forgotten. Our job is to wake it up. To find the value that has fallen asleep, bring it back to life, and put it into the hands of someone who will use it.

The generation of our fathers and grandfathers built these things. We carry them forward. That is the whole idea behind this shop — taking the accumulated work of one era and handing it, intact and running, to the next.

What We Do

Before any item reaches your hands, we disassemble, inspect, and clean it ourselves. Lenses are checked for fungus, haze, separation, and coating condition. Cameras are tested for shutter accuracy, light seals, meter function, and mechanical operation. We don't just wipe down the exterior — we go inside.

Items that pass our standards are graded honestly using a clear condition scale, from Near Mint to AS-IS. What you see in the listing is what you get.

Our team meets every month to sharpen how we work — better cleaning, better inspection, better judgment. Skill is not something we assume we have. It is something we keep building.

We want the moment you open the box to tell you something: that this object has been looked after, and that it was handed over by people who cared about it.

A camera built sixty years ago can easily run for another sixty. We service every item with that in mind — not to make it sell today, but so that it is still working in fifty or a hundred years, long after we are gone, in the hands of people we will never meet.

Sapporo sits in the north of Japan — cold, dry winters and clean air. It's a great environment for storing and handling precision optics. Our workshop here is where every item is inspected, cleaned, photographed, and packed for shipping.

The Name

A torch is something you carry, and something you pass on. It was lit by someone before you, and it goes to someone after you. That is what we think we are doing here — keeping a flame alive that other people started, and making sure it reaches the next pair of hands still burning.
